NOTE FROM 2012: This whole site and all the wording is from 2005 so dont get confused if I speak about current topics in the past. Also, I should point out that certain videos and large files wont play as this was designed for a CD-ROM ( bad advice there). Thanks and enjoy.

Introducing....the how and what of lovin' death.

Just as Frodo had to go to Mount Doom, Simon Harris (Or Me as I call myself) had to create a 2D meets 3D animation. No, none of this was spontaneous, no, none of it was easy and yes, it took a very long time to do even simple facial expressions. Throughout all the challenges of inventing a new art form I had to learn the old tricks of animating, light and magic and combine it with the power of modern technology, mix it up and see what happened.

My name is Simon Harris and to find out about more on me check out the "About me" section.

Anyway.

After doing both my Dissertation an, Enterprise and Visual Research projects all based around the theory that 3D and 2D computer Generated images blend well together I was just itching to give it a go myself. So, How did I start the entire procedure? Well, I talked to my course tutor and some of the other staff and they all thought it was very ambitions to attempt such a thing. I was to start warned that animators can spend their entire lives making a ten minute piece, and all i had was a lowly 4 months. To actually see how my progress time wise went please visit the "Diary" section for information on that. My Brief outlined that I produce at least three 10 second animated stings. A sting is a bit like an advert but doesn't have to be directly related to the project. I decided to pick a theme and stick with it. My entire project is based on monsters in love. Already, I have a comedic topic.

Basically, I wanted to find out how to actually create one of these awe inspiring animation scenes that Film and TV sometimes satisfies us with. Not only do I want to replicate animation ideas, but evolve it further. Hopefully it will get to the stage where people look at my work and think "Gosh I want to be able to use his art form and enhance it further".

Anyway, I hope you enjoy going through this entire support document and find it just as exciting as _____________(place your exciting film here)
